Visit Lake Wenatchee State Park in the Cascades

You know, when you pull out a map you’re going to see that there’s a lot of things named after “Wenatchee”. There’s the Wenatchee River, the city of Wenatchee, the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, and Lake Wenatchee. Sitting on the western end of the lake is Lake Wenatchee State Park.

Free Hot Dogs?

If you and your family like thick forests, beautiful scenery, the taste of hot dogs over and over, and cool refreshing water to play in, then Lake Wenatchee State Park is for you. Okay, the hot dogs don’t come with your campsite, but it’s the Washington State Parks system, they can’t do everything for you. Wait. Come to think of it. Free hot dogs with every campsite would be a great promotion idea. When this post is done I’m going to have to give the governor a call.

The Lake Wenatchee Beach

The Lake Wenatchee State Park beach is a lot of fun, regardless of what time of year you’re visiting. You can relax on the shore, soak in the sun, or explore along the water. You can also head into the water which is very enjoyable thanks mostly because it’s cold and refreshing and coming right out of the mountains.

…And So Much More!

Lake Wenatchee State Park has other things that you’ll love too. There are historic picnic shelters, playground toys, horseshoe pits, a boat dock and launch, and hiking trails. All of this can add to the time you have there, whether you’re camping for a few days or just dropping in for an afternoon.

Back At The Campsite

Okay, so the hot dogs aren’t free (yet). But your time back at the campsite is just as enjoyable or more than everything else Lake Wenatchee State Park has to offer. There are large tent spots, as well as ample room for recreational vehicles. There’s also a strong, sturdy, and large picnic table at every site. Most of the campsites are protected from the wind and offer a lot of shade too which makes it great should it get stormy or hot.

Lake Wenatchee State Park is one of the most popular state parks in the region and there are so many good reasons why, as you can see. Still no free hot dogs yet, but maybe someday.
