There are few better ways to enjoy the Puget Sound area than by getting out on the water. When you visit there, you have a number of options. You can book a tour, rent a boat, sign on for a sailing trip, and even go on a charter fishing trip. One of the best options though is to take a trip on on of the many Washington State Ferries.
When you get on a ferry in Washington you can head out across Puget Sound and walk or drive off the boat in places like Kingston, Whidbey Island, Orcas Island, Bainbridge Island, Point Defiance, Bremerton, and more. Getting on and getting off the ferry aren’t the best parts though. It’s the time spent out on the water. The ferry’s job may be to get you from point A to B, but it’s the in between time that your family will love.
There’s beautiful scenery to see from the deck, including the Olympic Mountains, the Seattle Skyline, and Mt. Rainier. There’s fun things to see on the water itself too as you motor on by like other ferries, sailboats, Coast Guard vessels, and even marine life. You can even use the time on board to kick back and relax too. A ride on a Washington State Ferry is just plain pure enjoyment.
