Finding yourself in the capital city of Washington State, Olympia, with children in tow is not a bad thing. This good sized city, home to more government offices than you could ever be comfortable around, also has a wealth of things to do for whole families too. In fact, spending a weekend there is very easy.
The first place that has to be experienced is the famous Hands On Children’s Museum. This is just what its name describes it as, the ultimate chance for your kids to get out and have a hands on good time with gardents, climbers, building and arts exhibits, and more.
If you and your kids like a good waterfront area, and who doesn’t really, then Percival Landing could be where you need to go. There is a nearly mile long boardway with great views there, the chance to get down near the water and watch the boat activity that’s common there, and there always seems to be a celebration or festival going on.
Burfoot Park is another great Olympia attraction that’s perfect for families. This large park features over one thousand feet of beach area as well as numerous hiking trails. Playgrounds, barbecue grills, and picnic shelters help to complete this as a great destination. This is a great way to stay in the city and still get outdoors.
Along with those, other great family attractions fill the city too including the Olympic Flight Museum, Millersylvania State Park, Priest Point Park, Aztec Lanes, Piper’s Playground, WET Science Center, and Tolmie State Park.
A great place to stay, that’s location is very convenient to all of the must see attractions in Olympia, is TownePlace Suites. This is a modern hotel with a very neighborhood feel. The rooms there also come with what is basically a fully equipped kitchen which is very nice when meal planning for a family.
