The community of Boise offers a lot of great things to do. If you’re an active vacationer, there’s even more to do than you just may think.
Skiing is extremely popular in the Pacific Northwest and that’s true in Boise too. Boise is located just a 30 minute drive from a great little family friendly ski resort named Bogus Basin.
Bogus Basin first opened to the public for skiing back in 1942 with one 500 foot rope tow. Over the years, it has been enlarged, improved upon, and added to. Currently it offers three high speed quads, as well as multiple doubles and a triple, many taking skiers up for truly impressive downhill opportunities. Bogus Basin may not be able to compete with some of the most impressive alpine ski areas, but what it does offer is great skiing opportunities, beautiful scenery, a true feeling of getting away from it all, and a family friendly atmosphere where you and everyone in your party will feel welcomed.
Bogus Basin also offers other fun opportunities like plenty of open spaces to go snowshoeing and even some runs designed specifically for snow tubing. Another great attraction to enjoy when visiting Bogus Basin is one that you literally can’t ignore, it’s the road you drive on the way out there. Bogus Basin Road was originally constructed as a gravel road by CCC crews in the late 1930s. In the early days of the ski area, it was operated as a one-way road, uphill in the morning and downhill in the afternoon. It was later paved and improved and is a safe and beautiful drive now that a lot of people head to year round.
Your entire family can have an affordable and fun time out skiing at Bogus Basin. It really is a great way to get outdoors when visiting the Boise area.
